MW4 DMZ Gunsmith guide: Weapon Manuals, prices and builds

How to unlock weapons with Weapon Manuals, what the Gunsmith charges for slots and attachments, found weapons, Blueprints and the Vendor.

Quick answers

How do you unlock weapons in DMZ?
Extract with a Weapon Manual. It unlocks that base weapon at the Gunsmith and pays 5,000 DMZ Cash.
How much is a full weapon build?
Six figures. Activision's example five-attachment M4 costs 99,987 after a 5% discount.

How weapons work in DMZ

You do not keep a gun just because you found one. To buy a weapon again and again, you first unlock it with a Weapon Manual:

  1. Find a Weapon Manual in Hajin. Press found them as random loot, and the AMA recap says safes and military crates are good places to look.
  2. Extract with it. It is used up at exfil, unlocks that base weapon at the Gunsmith, and pays 5,000 DMZ Cash.
  3. Buy the weapon at the Gunsmith whenever you want it.

The Gunsmith

The Gunsmith opens at DMZ level 10. Everything costs DMZ Cash.

  • A base M4 costs about 5,000 DMZ Cash.
  • A weapon has 5 attachment slots. You buy slots in any order, and each one costs more than the last. In Activision’s own Gunsmith image the 4th slot costs 25,000 and the 5th 50,000.
  • Each attachment also costs Cash, and must already be unlocked through that weapon’s level. Lasers alone ranged from 1,900 to 6,887.
  • The Apex slot is free once the weapon is levelled.
  • A fully kitted weapon runs into six figures: Activision’s image prices a five-attachment M4 at 99,987 after a 5% discount.
  • “Gunny” can suggest a build.
  • DMZ levels unlock a Gunsmith discount.

Weapons you find

Weapons looted in Hajin can carry up to 8 attachments, more than you can buy. Boss weapons can go beyond the normal cap too. That makes found weapons worth extracting even when you own the base gun.

Blueprints

Each Blueprint you own appears in your DMZ inventory once. Lose it in a deployment and it is gone, but you can buy it again at a discount in the Gunsmith. Vault Edition owners also get the Signature Weapon Blueprints this way.

The Vendor

The Vendor (DMZ level 5) sells weapons and gear for DMZ Cash, with stock that changes every day. DMZ levels add to what it offers.

Tips

  • Early on, spend on slots for one weapon you like rather than spreading cash thin.
  • Test sights on the Firing Range before you pay for them.
  • Keep weapon variety by extracting found guns: they cost you nothing at the Gunsmith.
