MW4 DMZ Cash guide: how to earn it and what to spend it on

How DMZ Cash and the Bank work, every way to earn cash, what to spend it on first, and why not to sell every valuable.

Quick answers

How do you make money fast in DMZ?
Chain Dynamic Ops in one deployment, learn the casino vault, and extract every Recipe and Weapon Manual (5,000 each).
Do you keep cash if you die?
Cash you picked up in the match is lost. It only reaches your Bank when you extract.

How DMZ Cash works

DMZ Cash is the money of the mode. You spend it at the FOB on weapons, attachments, infils, Lieutenant intel and getting MIA Operators back.

The important rule: cash you pick up in Hajin is not yours until you extract. You start every deployment with zero cash on you. After a successful exfil, the After Action Report adds up your cash and pays it into your Bank. The Bank has a cap that FOB upgrades raise.

Where cash comes from

Source What it pays
Story Missions Large rewards. Three known missions pay 25,000 each Unconfirmed
Dynamic Ops Cash and XP for every completed Op, plus a Supply Drop
Side Ops Activating a UAV Tower pays cash. Others pay XP, Resources or intel
Recipes and Weapon Manuals Every one you extract pays 5,000
Valuables Items with a gem icon. Sell them for cash
Safes Cash and valuables. The casino vault in Cheongun Village holds a lot of cash, and you can open it on any deployment once you know how
Lieutenants and Commanders Cash for kills. A Commander pays on your first kill
Bounties A cut of a Wanted player’s bounty when you extract their Dog Tag

The Scout Trait Investor slightly raises the cash you extract.

What to spend it on

  1. Gunsmith slots and attachments for one main weapon. A full build runs into six figures, so build it up over time. See the Gunsmith guide.
  2. MIA recovery for an Operator with lots of Traits. The price rises with Trait Points.
  3. Infils, if you need to land somewhere specific. See vehicles and infil.
  4. Boss Board intel when you want a particular Lieutenant.
  5. Prestige: 200,000, then 300,000, then 500,000 for each later Prestige.

Do not sell everything

Valuables can also be spent on FOB upgrades, such as Dog Tag Case storage, Gunsmith discounts and Vendor options. Keep a few until you know what your next upgrade needs.

Fast cash tips

  • Run Dynamic Ops back to back in one deployment. The Supply Drop gets better with each Op you finish.
  • Learn the casino vault. Operation Silent Ledger teaches it, and the vault then works in any deployment.
  • Bring home every Recipe and Weapon Manual, even duplicates you would not use. The 5,000 payout alone is worth it.
