Squad size and lobbies
- Squads hold up to three players. Queue solo, as a duo or as a trio. With Squad Fill on, the game adds up to two random players.
- Lobbies hold up to 20 squads (60 players), and all of them spawn at the same moment. Squads of different sizes can share a lobby.
- There is no in-game LFG. Your deploy choice (Story Mission, Dynamic Op or Free Roam) is part of matchmaking, so you meet players who wanted the same kind of match. Infinity Ward points players to the official Call of Duty Discord. You can also find a squad on ours.
Reviving teammates
When a squadmate goes down you can pick them up before they bleed out. Useful tools:
- Faster Revive (Survivalist Trait) speeds up revives.
- Numb the Pain gives the revived player Painkillers and Smelling Salts effects.
- Impact Smokes drops smoke when you are downed, covering the revive.
- Revive Pistol, a Field Upgrade listed as a DMZ level 64 reward. Unconfirmed
- Teammates can also get themselves up with their own Tourniquet the first time. See health and healing.
When a teammate dies
A dead Operator goes MIA and is out for the rest of the deployment. Their gear is lost unless you pick it up. Each player recovers their own MIA Operator with their own DMZ Cash. Whether a squadmate can rescue an MIA Operator in the field has not been confirmed. See Operators and MIA.
Truce, betrayal and assimilation
Other squads do not have to be enemies.
- Proximity chat carries voices by distance and direction, with reverb, so you can talk to strangers.
- The Ping Wheel can request a Truce with another squad, or assimilation to join them.
- An assimilated group can be four players at most.
- A truce is not binding: betrayal is possible.
Playing as a squad
- Share one plan before you drop. The Squad Plan tool puts everyone’s objectives and route on one link.
- Split roles: one player carries Medkits, one carries extra plates via the Armor Box, one scouts.
- Mission items go into a dedicated Mission Item slot automatically, so nobody needs to keep backpack space for them.
